Not a church person?

I have heard so many reasons for people not going to church. I am not talking about why you missed the Sunday service last week, but something bigger. Some common reasons for not going to church regularly (or at all):

HIS Creations Ministries, Inc. provides Christian counseling, addictions counseling, Marriage counseling, & Mental health counseling to the greater Harrisburg and York areas.
  • Christians are hypocrites
  • I don't connect
  • The church is too focused on putting on a show
  • I don't know if I believe in Jesus
  • I don't want to be asked for money
  • The church is too big (or small)
  • I dislike the idea of all these denominations
  • I have been hurt by someone at church
  • I can't get up in time

My concern is that we were created for fellowship and so no matter how real or valid your reason is for not attending church, you miss out on the peace, joy & excitement you get when you connect to others spiritually (in the simple way as it is mapped out in the Bible).

For the past two Monday nights, I have been walking around Dillsburg (near my office) reaching out to anyone who would talk to me as I knocked on doors. I have gotten a variety of responses but now I would like to hear from you. Why do you or someone you know not go to church? What are your thoughts on this topic?

Check out the Organic Life get-together held at our office if you continue to just not be interested in church.

I do go to church, but not nearly as much as I once did, nor as much as I should. Church is not a safe place for me anymore. I found that even though I tried to clean up my life and follow Jesus, I am still just a miserable sinner and even found a way to get into trouble with my addictions at church! Now when I go, I worship and leave. Least that way there's no temptation. Maybe someday it will be different, but not yet.
